The eighth edition of the Warsaw Summer School in Social Sciences started at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology on Monday, June 15, 2015. The School is organized by CONSIRT (Cross-National Studies: Interdisciplinary Research and Training Program) – a collaborative endeavor of The Ohio State University and the Polish Academy of Sciences. The School offers an intensive, 5-weeks training and research program providing students at different academic levels the opportunity to engage first-hand in studying post-communist European countries in comparative perspective. The School provides a practical training in quantitative methods, with the use of data from the Polish Panel Survey POLPAN. In addition to classroom work with OSU and PAN instructors, students visit major international organizations that assess social and political change in the region and meet with experts in cross-national research. Field trips and cultural activities complement classroom work.
