In January 2020, Professor Joshua K. Dubrow (Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences) initiated a new platform for working with POLPAN data called “POLPAN Lab.”

The aim of POLPAN Lab is to create and develop substantive and methodological papers that feature POLPAN data. The Lab consists of:

  • Monthly meetings held at IFiS PAN. The POLPAN Lab meetings provide people working with POLPAN data, or who intend to do so in the near future, a time and a place for talking about research ideas, as well as data and analysis issues. Sharing of ideas, readings, data, and methodological insights, including syntax, is strongly encouraged;
  • Online activity (group discussions, exchanging files etc.) at https://groups.io/g/polpanlab.

The Lab welcomes both quantitative and qualitative research on any topic and from any discipline, and all graduate students and PhDs, so long as their purpose is to use POLPAN data to write a paper suitable for publishing in an academic outlet.

The Lab will last from January 2020 to December 2021.

Funding for POLPAN Lab comes from the National Science Centre, Poland for the project “Multidimensional Biographies and Social Structure: Poland 1988–2018” (UMO-2017/25/B/HS6/02697).
